The PADI Master Scuba Diver Trainer (MSDT) Preparation program
The MSDT program prepares PADI Open Water Scuba Instructors (OWSI) for the rating of PADI Master Scuba Diver Trainer (MSDT). A Master Scuba Diver Trainer is a PADI Instructor who can teach at least 5 PADI Specialty Diver Courses. And can therefore teach an entire PADI Master Scuba Diver program. Consequently, when you are looking for work, you are able to offer more to the Dive Centre and it’s customers.
For this reason, it’s an especially relevant rating to achieve as soon as possible after you become a PADI OWSI. Because of this we have included it in all our Scuba Diving Internship and Career Development packages. The MSDT rating sets you apart from other Scuba Dive instructors because it demonstrates to your future employer enhanced learning.
What does the rating say about you?
- Take your role as PADI Instructor seriously.
- Are motivated and consequently enjoy developing your own knowledge and skills
- Can offer the Dive Centre or Dive Resort more courses to their Customers.
- Are someone who enjoys teaching and has experience in teaching a variety of PADI scuba diving courses
MSDT Schedule
The Master Scuba Diver Trainer (MSDT) programs are scheduled monthly throughout the year and can be run at any time. However, we regularly schedule MSDT Prep at the end of every IDC program after the IE. Primarily for the reasons we have outlined above. Given the choice between employing an OWSI or an MSDT, unless it's a language reason, the MSDT is most likely to get the job. Simply because they can offer more to our customers than simply DSD, OW, AOW, Resc and DM.
Our usual MSDT program starts with a day or so of classroom where we review the PADI Specialty Instructor Outlines. Incidentally, these are found in the PADI Specialty Instructor Manual which is now included in your IDC pack. As such, you will not need to be purchase any more Instructor materials. You will also do some classroom Teaching Presentations. And then depending on the Specialty Instructor Course you have chosen, we will look at various pieces of specialty equipment.
This is usually followed by 2 days of scuba diving (6 dives) out on the boat to various Phuket Dive Sites. The usual Phuket Dive Sites we dive are: The King Cruiser shipwreck, Shark Point and Ko Dok Mai. As well as Anemone Reef or Racha Noi and Racha Yai. Finally we have the chance to do some real diving.
Poseidon Se7en Rebreather Orientation
Chris LOVES teaching these courses as he gets to dive on his Poseidon Se7en Rebreather while teaching MSDT. Consequently, like it or not, you will get to learn quite a bit about the PADI Recreational Rebreather course. And as Chris dives on a Poseidon Se7en Rebreather, you will learn a lot about Poseidon Rebreathers. In addition, Chris is required to give you a Rebreather Orientation before you dive with him. This is because you will be diving on Open Circuit (OC) with a Closed Circuit (CCR) Rebreather diver. However, if you are also trained to dive on the Poseidon MKVI or Se7en Rebreather and can consequently able dive on your Poseidon Rebreathers Chris will be unbelievably happy!
