PADI Specialty Courses with Indepth Dive Centre on Phuket, Thailand.
PADI Specialty Courses allow you to focus on the various types of specialty diving that you enjoy the most!
For example, if on your PADI Advanced Open Water Course, one of the Adventure Dives that totally blew you away was the Wreck Adventure Dive. Then logically you are going to want to experience more Wreck Dives. If this is the case, then the PADI Wreck Specialty Diver Course will take you deeper into Wreck Diving. In fact, you will do a total of FOUR Wreck Dives, including an actual Wreck Penetration on the last dive! Indepth Dive Centre (IDC) in Phuket is a great place to learn PADI Specialty Courses. We are lucky as Phuket has a number of suitable wrecks. Another bonus is the sunken passenger ferry the King Cruiser which is our favourite. In addition, there is also the Wreck in Bay 1 on Racha Yai, as well as several other wrecks you can dive and explore.
There really are PADI Specialty Diver Courses for almost anything you would want to learn whilst diving!
Specialty Diver Course Time frames and Packages
Taking specialty diver courses on Phuket takes 1-4 days depending on which course or courses you choose to take. This is because some Specialty Diver Courses have 2 dives, and others 3-4 training dives.
When taking more than 1 PADI Specialty Diver Course, they are often best taught in conjunction with each other. Again, this is due to the number of dives we do per day and the variety of dive sites we have to choose from. Specialty Courses work best when put into a PADI Specialty Diver Course package. As a result of taking this option, you benefit from both a reduced overall cost, and also increased learning opportunities.
For example, The Wreck Diving on the King Cruiser is a great one to do in combination with The Deep Diver Specialty Course. You would typically do one of your Deep Dives first at Ko Dok Mai, then move onto the King Cruiser for the 2nd dive of the day. Thus with 3 dives a day you could be doing 3 different specialty dives / day. Or you could do 3 dives of the same PADI Specialty Course. You have loads of exciting options!
EANx and Poseidon Rebreather Options
Extending your dive time with Enriched Air Nitrox Diver is always a popular choice. In contrast, Chris loves to teach the PADI Poseidon Rebreather Diver Course. This teaches you to dive a fully-closed rebreather (CCR), emitting no bubbles. Because of this, you can get really, really close to marine life and stay down way longer as your exhaled air isn't wasted. Therefore you can quite happily do 3-hour recreational no-deco rebreather dives after this PADI Rebreather Course.
Specialties at the Similans
Also If you are lucky enough to be going out on a Similans Liveaboard trip, you might want to think about some Specialty Courses. Probably the most popular are: The PADI Deep Diver, Digital Underwater Photography and Enriched Air Nitrox Diver courses. Having these under your belt, will certainly help you get the maximum experience out of The Similans and surrounding National Parks.
